I'll be home for Christmas!

I'm writing this for my sister's December Group Writing Project from Mamablogga.com. The theme this month is "The best time of the year." So here is my post!

The phrase "the best time of the year" (especially when read in December) of course makes people think of Christmas and who doesn't love Christmas? There are so many reasons: family, treats, presents, cheesy specials on TV, and an overall feeling of cheer and enjoyment of life. It is a time to celebrate the birth of our Savior and show our love for others. After all that you'd think my post would be about Christmas but I just wanted to give Christmas a shout out because I do love it but the year I was thinking of is a little different.

Kevan and I chose to get married December 29th for a couple of reasons. First it seemed far enough away from my finals week so we could get last minute details done. It was far enough from Christmas, well only four days but I know lots of people getting married on the 27th. I think the biggest reason (at least for me) was that it was exactly one year from our first date/time we met. Our only hesitation for getting married that day was that that's his brother and sister-in-law's anniversary but they were kind enough to share it with us. So right now I consider the best time of the year the culmination of the year we dated/were engaged. We're getting married in only 18 more days!
Speaking of countdowns this year was counted down almost constantly. The only days we didn't count down were those we were together (during which we ignored the dwindling days) and those when the time that we would again be united was indefinite. I know there will be more countdowns in our lives but not ones until I can see my best friend again. This year has made me so grateful for the times that I was with Kevan. It ends with us getting sealed in the house of the Lord and being together for the rest of eternity. This is the best time of the year.

Rush

I love the rush after you've done something well. Like after you got a really good grade on a test or you finish a paper and you know you've done well. I just finished a presentation in Psychological Research and I felt I did really well. My teacher stopped me and one of my group members after class and told us we were very articulate.

There's also this rush when you get done with things. Again like a test, paper, and in this case a class. I just have the final left in most of my classes. It feels good to be almost done!

Oh Christmas Tree!

This is the tree that I made to bring a little more Christmas spirit into our room! Right as I went to make it I realized I already brought my construction paper home so I had to make the paper green with markers! The bottom paper chain is home many days I have left. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Ouch!

Last year I never fell down after it snowed. So this year the first real snow began on Saturday. On Sunday it froze and created lots of ice. They hadn't done a lot of the parking lots I walk through by the time I was walking to class at 7:30 on Monday morning. What I'm getting at is basically it was really slippery and I totally fell down. It looked like I "took a knee" in the middle of the parking lot. Good thing I was a tad late for class and there weren't that many people around. I sure did feel that bruise later in the day. When I got home at 3 I checked it out. It was swollen and all colors of the rainbow. That night for FHE we were supposed to go ice skating. I did not partake. It's been a couple days and the swelling has almost gone away completely oh but it is a beautiful shade of purple. I thought I'd share!

I don't think either picture does the bruise justice but thats okay, you get the picture (well sorta)
